Billy E. Ross Obituary

Billy E. “Bill” Ross, age 75, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Noblesville on February 18, 1951, Bill was the son of the late John Ross, Sr. and Dorothy (Baldwin) Ross.

Bill dedicated 27 years to the Lawrence Township Fire Department as a respected and beloved mechanic, retiring in 2010. Passionate about restoring classic vehicles, he took great pride in restoring his 1968 Chevy C-10 pickup alongside his sons, Steven and Jeremy. He was an enthusiastic participant at car shows and a devoted camper, fondly known as “The Mayor” at Paradise Point Campground.

He leaves behind his wife, Martha Jean (Frazier) Ross, whom he married on January 21, 1968, and remarried on June 26, 1999. Bill is also survived by his children: Dawn Ross-Webb of Indianapolis, Steve (Kristi) Ross of Muncie, and Jeremy (Lori) Ross of Lawrence. He was the proud grandfather of Justin (Natalie) Webb, Nicole (Aaron) McCormick, Allison (Travis) Smith, Lacy (Mitchell) Grosser, Kyle Riedling, and Olivia Ross, and was blessed with seven great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Diane (Jerry) Barrett and brother Ed (Lucy) Ross.

Bill was preceded in death by his granddaughter Madison Ross, his brothers John Ross, Jr. and Tom Ross, as well as his parents.

A service celebrating Bill’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Seals Funeral Home, located at 122 W. Staat Street, Fortville, IN 46040. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the service begins at 1p. Bill will be laid to rest at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville, Indiana immediately following the service.

The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Survive Alive c/o Indianapolis Professional Firefighters Local 416, located at 748 Massachusetts Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46204, in lieu of flowers. Online condolences can be shared at www.sealsfuneralhome.com.
