Wilby Dotson, 77 of McCordsville passed away on Monday September 1, 2025. He was born on July 30, 1948, in Harlan, KY to the late Virgil Dotson and Edith (Pace) Dotson.
Wilby was a 1967 graduate of Pendleton Heights High School, he was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam. He worked for the Brookside Corporation in McCordsville for 28 years, then the Diamond Chain Company as a machine operator for 16 years, then most recently as a groundskeeper for the town of McCordsville for 8 years.
Wilby was a member of the McCordsville United Methodist Church and the Fortville American Legion Post 391. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying softball, golf, hunting and hiking and was a former little league baseball and softball coach. He also enjoyed mowing his yard, spending time with his family, international travel, and the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
Wilby is survived by his wife Jeannie (Ferguson) Dotson, whom he married on October 1, 1971; son, Michael Dotson of McCordsville and daughter, Lisa (Joe) Gause of Markleville; granddaughter Joely Gause of Markleville; siblings Gene Dotson of Fortville, Inez (Doug) Haygood of Ingalls, Delbert (Chris) Dotson of Westfield; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Wilby was preceded in death by his brothers Wayne Dotson and George Dotson.
Friends may call on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 4 to 8 pm at Seals Funeral Home 122 W. Staat Street Fortville, IN 46040. Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 6, 2025, at the McCordsville United Methodist Church, 6427 W. Broadway St., McCordsville, IN 46055, beginning at 11:00am. Additional visitation prior to the funeral service will be held from 10:00am until the time of the service, also at the church. Burial will follow the services at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
