Obituary for Sharon D. "Cherie" Turner

Sharon D. “Cherie” Turner, 76, of Greenfield passed away suddenly at home on the evening of January 17, 2023 surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 25, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana, a daughter of the late Richard and Geneva (DeGolyer) Watkins.

Cherie was a 1964 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. She was a talented floral designer working in her mother’s flower shop, “Sally’s” in McCordsville. Cherie retired from Jockish Flowers after many years of employment. Cherie was voted one of the top floral designers in the state of Indiana, designing garland wreaths for derby winners, and other exceptional designs for celebrities in Indianapolis and Geist. She enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and always referred to her home as the perfect vacation spot on the lake. Cherie loved helping people and was very generous with her time, talents, and resources. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grand-dogs.

Those left to cherish Cherie’s memory include her husband of 55 years, Bobby Gene Turner; four daughters, Linda Wilson of Okeechobee, FL, Carla (John) Sturm of Shirley, Kim (Gregg) Halstead of Shelbyville, and Tammy (Bill) Thill of Greenfield; a son, Brian (Toni) Turner of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Cody (Jen) Thill, Emily (Orion) Endriss, Brent (Janice) Turner, Brandy (Justin) Armstrong, John Eric (Nerecia) Sturm, Joel Sturm, Jessica (Robert) Raymer, Jared Wilson, Levi (Amanda) Blake, Carly Cloud, Alyssa and Kirstin; great-grandchildren, Austin (Millie), Logan, Brittany, Ona, Reagan, Easton, Rowan, Austin, Norah, Aria, Stella, and Mia; a sister, Charman (Max Gerald) Carlton; a brother-in-law, Don Turner; a sister-in-law, Patsy Apple, and many nieces and nephews.

Cherie was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Turner; her in-laws, Modie and Bertha Turner; two brothers-in-law, Willard (Geneva) Turner and Johnny Apple, and by a sister-in-law, Glennetta Turner.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, January 20, 2023 at The Chapel at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, 9088 W. County Road 1025 S. Fortville, Indiana, where burial will take place following the service. Pastor Paul Galbraith will officiate.
