Dean White, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023. He was born July 15, 1933, in Peru, Indiana to Wilden and Florence (Ackey) White. Dean was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Harlingen, TX, Fortville F & AM Lodge No. 207, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Shrine of Indianapolis, Shrine Club of Indianapolis, Past President of the Shrine Gatling Gun Club of Indianapolis and was a volunteer van driver for Shrine Children’s Hospital of Texas. He had also been the former Chief and member of the McCordsville Volunteer Fire Department. Dean was a member of the United Auto Workers Union and retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1987 after 31 years as a tool and die maker. In his spare time Dean enjoyed being a baseball and softball umpire.
Dean is survived wife Joyce I. (Lanzer) White of Indianapolis; children: siblings, Linda (Mark) Mowery of Fortville, Michael (Rene) White of Fishers, Jerry (Polly) White of Niles, MI; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; half-brother Bob (Barbara) White of Peru; stepchildren: Tony W. (Cathy) Anderson of Indianapolis; Timothy L. (Maria) Anderson of Virginia and Dawn R. (Rich) Sedam of Indianapolis; 4 step-grandchildren. 3 great step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Paula and son-in-law Jim Ferrill, brother David L. White and half-brother Edward White.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville with Masonic Memorial Rites beginning at 7:30 pm. A funeral to celebrate Dean’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 24, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
