Obituary
Denny Lee Short Sr., 80, of Pendleton, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2023, surrounded by friends. Denny was born on May 4, 1943, to Earl Short and Laura (Bohall) Greer in Fortville. He graduated from high school in 1962 and briefly served in the US Navy.
Denny was a proud employee in different departments at Delco Remy for 34.5 years. He was mechanically adept and could fix just about anything. Denny was very fond of crab legs and always encouraged everyone to play the lottery. He loved music and would travel to surrounding nursing homes helping his good friend Randy Humerickhouse set up to entertain residents with his record collection.
Denny’s final home was Rawlins House in Pendleton. He always had a joke or a smile for nurses, staff, hospice staff, and residents.
Denny is survived by his son Denny Lee Short Jr.; daughter Tammy Jo Johnson; cousin Betty Slater; and dear friends Randy and Barbie Humerickhouse. He is preceded in death by his parents Earl Short and Laura Greer and his sister Jeannie.
A special thanks to Normandy Halvorson, a hospice volunteer who became a good friend, as well as numerous hospice care workers that took care of him. Thank you to Rawlins House for all their wonderful care as well.
Committal Services for Denny will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Chapel at Gravel Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Denny could be remembered by taking someone you care about most to enjoy crab legs and just enjoy time together.
